Do you also feel the warm winds? And smell of saltwater when you look at this picture? I hope so.
But most of all, I hope that this post will inspire you to book your next trip to Pythagorio, Samos – probably the most genuine Island in Greece. There’s so much I want to share with you from this place, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any thoughts or questions! But let’s start with…
1. Hiking
Your alarm shows 5AM, when you wake up to sheep bells ringing. But instead of going back to sleep, you crawl out of bed and into your Nikes. Because this morning, you’ll hike up the mountain that stretches along the Pythagorio Samos coastline, and see the sunrise. Consider it the three most well invested hours of your vacation! If there’s a ”runner’s high” there’s definitely a ”hiker’s high.” And the combination of watermelon and feta cheese you’ll have for breakfast at the Apollon Resort afterward, have never tasted so good.
2. Pythagorio Beach
You’ve never appreciated a sun bed as much as after a hike! But when you’ve charged your body with enough solar energy, you rent a paddle board from Wind-and Watersports, to complement this morning’s leg workout with some upper body exercise. At family-owned Pythagorion Beach, George och Titia Kontaxis take great care of you. And if you enjoy water sports, this is the beach for you.
3. Rent a bike
After all the paddling has made you hungry, you take your bike into the village. Yes, don’t hesitate to rent a bike when you’re in Samos! It’s the most convenient way to get around here, if you’re not doing a more extended excursion, of course. We rented both bikes and a car at Dino’s Rentals in Pythagorio Samos.
4. Pergamonto
So where were we….Right, taking the bike into the village! To one of Pythagorio’s newcomers on the restaurant scene: Pergamonto. What you need now is their homemade burger. Also, Pythagorio’s most Instagram friendly bathroom happens to hide out on the top floor; its stone wall would’ve been the perfect backdrop to your burger. So much so, that you consider asking if you could eat in here. But you come to your senses that the afternoon light will probably do your picture more justice. After all, the most important thing is the light, right?
5. Two Spoons
When you’ve boosted your metabolism with some window shopping (or is it ceramics I here clinging in your straw bag?), you end your afternoon at café Two Spoons. Here, you drink sparkling espresso and eat sinfully good red velvet cake – both born to be on Instagram. Besides, you need something you can trust will soak up the Ouzo later tonight…
