Kokkari – Samos Mest Instagramvänliga By

Instagram friendly Kokkari Samos Photography Annika Lagerqvist www.annikasomething.com

Kokkari – Samos Most Instagram Friendly Village

Whitestone houses, blue window shutters, and hot pink bougainvilleas

Yes, with the Instagram friendly village Kokkari in your feed, you’ll make your followers book a trip to Samos faster than they can say ”Opa!” Kokkari is located on the northern part of Samos, and since its much windier here, it’s not optimal if you want a calm day at the beach. But if you enjoy windsurfing, you’re in the right place! On the other hand, who has time for sunbathing, when this picturesque fishing village is photo friendly wherever you go.

If you come here early in the morning, start out by exploring the alleys before the sun is set too high! On top of the village, you get a beautiful view of the churches with their iconic blue domes. Also, don’t forget to keep an eye out for the colorful and Instagram friendly walls.

Find the locals

But when you start to feel your camera shoulder grow numb, it’s time to find your way down to the port. Here, the restaurants will fight to have you as a guest. But take your time and pay attention to where the locals hang out.

Then, while you let your lunch digest, have a look in the ceramic stores. Are you an impulsive shopper like me? Don’t come and say I didn’t warn you….But to your defense: of course, you’ll need that olive serving set and ouzo glasses when you throw a Greek party – a cold winter night back home…..

What Not to Miss in Milan – Healthy Food and Urban Agriculture

Milan Un Posto a Milano June 2015 Photography Annika Lagerqvist www.annikasomething.com
🇸🇪 Läs det här inlägget på svenska

Fashion, food, and men in suits on Vespas. That’s typical things you would associate with Milan, right? But what if I say: Sustainable lifestyle, healthy food, and urban agriculture?

Because amongst cultural attractions, shopping, and aperitivo bars, there’s a small and quite surprising neighborhood in the heart of Milan. Only a couple minutes walk from Porta Romana, you’ll find Un Posto a Milano – ”A Place in Milan”. A community project dedicated to traditional Italian food and culture. With its lush courtyard and orchards, this is one of the city’s oldest farms – transformed into a meeting place after having been abandoned for many years. And just because we’re speaking of transformation…..

Is it only me, or do you look better when you’re in Milan?!

I love Milan! The pulse, the people but especially, I love being inspired by the Italian women who are so proud of their roots in the fashion world. How they nonchalantly ”I-just-threw-this-outfit-on-this-morning” sweep by in a Dolce & Gabbana dress and a Prada bag on their shoulder. They encourage me to also be proud of who I am and to be more confident to put myself out there a bit more. What can I say, Milan brings out the best in me 😉

But sometimes you need a break from fashion and museums.

Then Un Posto a Milano is the perfect place to recharge – like taking a trip to the Italian countryside. At Un Posto a Milano, they work closely with over 100 farmers to make sure they serve you only the best organic and local products. But don’t forget to make a reservation if you want to eat. During the weekends they’re usually fully booked for lunch, and yes; we made the mistake of not booking a table. But on the other hand, you won’t mind the wait when you get to sip wine and just enjoy the beautiful smells and surroundings in the meantime.

And since there’s a big chance you don’t want to leave this place, the good news is: you don’t have to. Just rent a room in their guest house and stay the night! Or two, or three…..

Un Posto a Milano – Ett Ställe i Milano Du Inte får Missa

Un Posto a Milano June 2015 Photography Annika Lagerqvist www.annikasomething.com
🇬🇧  Read this post in English

Paradise Beach, Pythagorio Samos

Samos Pythagorion Paradise Beach Photography Annika Lagerqvist www.annikasomething.com

🇸🇪 Läs detta inlägget på svenska →

What does a paradise beach mean to you? Do you imagine white sand beaches in Thailand or the Caribbean? Maybe with big, comfy sunbeds and Instagram worthy pina coladas?

I won’t deny that those images come to my mind too. But if instead of the above, you stubble upon a beach where you’re met by love, care, and….a bit less comfy sunbeds. Well, then you’ve arrived at my kind of paradise beach. So before you hop on your flight to Samos, the most Greek(!) island in Greece: read these 3 reasons why, you have to spend at least one day at Paradise Beach in Pythagorio.

1. Genuine Service

As you make your way to a pair of empty sunbeds, you’re greeted by a charming Greek with a smile wider than his waist: ”Hi there, welcome to Paradise Beach!” He tells you that you’re welcome to borrow their water gear, and explains where you find the bathroom and shower – an outdoor shower that looks like it was taken out of the Costa Rican jungle. The sunbeds may look like they’ve been there for a decade. But that’s easy to overlook when someone cares so genuinely about you having the best day possible, here on Paradise Beach in Pythagorio.

2. Lunch from a rusty van

Have you ever heard the expression: ”the way to a woman’s heart goes through Greek love on a plate?” No? Okay, I might have come up with it myself here on Paradise Beach. But when you’re served freshly caught fish, you give a piece of your heart in return. They may cook your lunch in an outdoor kitchen, behind a rusty van. But don’t be fooled – it all taste delicious! Then also, ”mama boss” sits on a plastic chair overseeing every move 😉

3. No wifi

When you need at break from the gazing Greek sun, it’s nice to sit down in the shadow under their thatch beach shelter. And then you just can’t resist…..to pick up your phone. Because the scenario here on Paradise Beach is perfect for an Instagram story, right? But when you ask if they have wifi, they’ll just tilt their heads to the side, smile, and answer:

”Honey, this is paradise, there is no wifi.”
You let those eight words sink in…..Then you lean back in your chair, take in the ocean view, and just allow yourself to be in the now.

In paradise 🌴

Paradise Beach, Pythagorion Samos – En Genuin Paradisstrand

Samos Pythagorion Paradise Beach Photography Annika Lagerqvist www.annikasomething.com
🇬🇧 Read this post in english →

3. No wifi

”Honey, this is paradise, there is no wifi.”

I paradiset 🌴

Ett Hallelujah Beach Moment – Pappa Beach, Samos

Pappa Beach Samos Stränder Photography Annika Lagerqvist www.annikasomething.com
🇬🇧 Read this post in english →

Men känn ingen stress!

A Hallelujah Beach Moment – Pappa Beach, Samos

Pappa Beach Samos Stränder Photography Annika Lagerqvist www.annikasomething.com
🇸🇪  Läs detta inlägg på svenska →

Picture yourself on a bike, riding alongside olive trees and vineyards. The only thing you hear is the wind, and…..🐑🐑🐑

”Baaa!” Right, the feta cheeses. So what do you say: you want to go for a ride? Good! Because I want to take you to Pappa Beach in the village Ireon, a 30-minute bike ride from Pythagorion on the south coast of Samos island. Alright, say 40 minutes. You’re going to want to take pictures along the way.

Pappa Beach – The Priest’s beach

Did you know that ”pappa” means priest in Greek? That’s right: no surprise then that the village priest owns the beach, along with his big Greek family, of course! Maria, his daughter, will probably serve you lunch (try the meatballs with tzatziki.) And if you’re lucky, you’ll also get to meet Maria’s charming son Nico. He studies in Athens, but helps out in the restaurant during the summers.

Not to mention Nico’s grandmother Evangelia – the priest’s wife. Have you ever wanted to adopt a Greek grandmother? You’ll want to after meeting Evangelia!

When you want to sit on a rock in crystal clear water and listen to your podcasts undisturbed

When you’re on vacation, you don’t necessarily want to plan your days. So, since you’ve enjoyed that slooow bike ride (and updated your Instagram story) on your way here, there’s a risk all sunbeds are taken when you finally arrive. But feel no stress! Just follow the path on the top of the cliff, and you’ll find a hidden gem – probably Pappa Beach’s most undisturbed location.

Pappa Beach is a very crowded, steep and rocky beach so, your core muscles won’t be vacationing. But who cares when it’s so calm and beautiful? In other words: it’s very couple friendly, but not optimal if you have small children. And service-minded as they are, you’re welcome to borrow water gear during your stay.

Did I hear a hallelujah? 😇

Can we even call it models off duty anymore?
When in fact the runway doesn’t seem to end after the show lights go off.

But when it comes to the model off duty style it’s not only about what they are wearing.

It’s more about the charisma in combination with their looks that we look up to,
whether it be a designer piece or a simple pair of jeans and t-shirt.

As more brands approach the mix-gender catwalk shows, so are the men approaching the street style scene at the Women’s Fashion Week. And it was so refreshing to see a little feminine touch to menswear, whether it be bowties or lace shorts.

We were also excited to see many men going both bolder in colors and volume!

Meet 10 Men on the Street Style Scene at Women’s Fashion Week Milan, September 2016

The Men at Women’s Fashion Week.

Guest writer Malin Lagerqvist

Express your personality through the way you dress.
More than ever before it seems to have become accepted even amongst the male community to experiment with your wardrobe. We’re not only talking a charismatic suit and tie combo. The men on Women’s Fashion Week are raising their unique style voice, exploring the boundaries of what’s considered masculine and feminine.
An excellent example of that is Simone Marchetti, Fashion Editor at La Republica, who’ve become a photographer favorite across the whole fashion week season.

And what about age?
That age is just a number has never been truer. We love how Antonio Manlio Nieto (the pictures above and below) is always radiating youthful vibrancy through his creatively colorful look still with the grace of a gentleman in his best years. Or the young guy Thomas Reichegger – the perfect example of that style has no rules and fashion is supposed to be fun, not taking it too seriously.

It may be the women playing the lead role on the street style scene during Fashion Week Month, but even if they’re standing in the center stage spotlight, the men don’t go unnoticed! In fact, in an orchestra of female stars, they sometimes shine even brighter than on their own Men’s Fashion Week 💫

Antonio Manlio Nieto
Fashion Journalist and contributer for Le Temps Hors Série, who always bring the most stylish and colorful feeling onto the streets.

Robert Rabensteiner
Fashion editor of L’Uomo Vogue. Born in Meran, South Tyrol, Italy 1965, and has been described as one of the most stylish men in the world.

Thomas Reichegger
This German Fashion blogger always puts a smile on my face, he’s so funny and so good adding that little extra to his pictures or outfits. I think he’s one of the upcoming star on the men’s street style scene.

You’ll find Thomas on Instagram @thomas.reichegger

Today he’s one of the biggest in his genre, and the guy we all look up to in the photo/fashion world.

You have to credit a guy who gives you his best poses, I mean, Italians know how to hit the streets, and Salvatore is no exception  👊

Are you tired of the average pictures on Instagram? Then you must check out Fabrizio Politi

Linda Tol – Seen from 13 different Angles, Milan Fashion Week September 2016

 Different Angles of Linda Tol.

Guest writer Malin Lagerqvist

Don’t let the icy blonde hair and sharp style fool you – there’s nothing cold about this Dutch darling!
Quite the opposite. The Amsterdam native and online influencer’s personality is as bubbly as Prosecco!

As a Glamour Magazine Italia contributor, with Italy as her second home, Linda Tol embodies the elegance and playfulness of Italian style. That in combination with her androgynous looks – the signature style she has become known for, she makes photographers frantically click the ”like” button on their cameras no matter which Fashion Week capital she attends.

Being the respected fashion professional as she is, attending more shows than the number of espressos an Italian consume a day, she always makes time for photographers and fashion fans outside the shows. A generosity which I believe is why she remains one of the most photographed, inspiring and likable personalities on the street style scene.

I’ll let the pictures below speak for themselves, because even when sitting on a bike stand this girl knows her angles, as well as your grandma, will claim she knows best in the kitchen!

How to Speak Italian with Viviana Volpicella & Scott Schuman

How to Speak Italian with
Viviana Volpicella & Scott Schuman

Guest writer Malin Lagerqvist

Love, Passion, bubbling feelings, and an accusing finger.

If there’s one thing we love about Italy, it’s listening while Italians are talking to each other – not to mention WATCHING them talk to each other. They communicate with Amore all the way out to their fingertips. Maybe one of the reasons why Italians are more romantic than the rest of us 😉

If you’re about to learn Italian, start by studying the body language. Just like a picture is worth a thousand words, your body does the same.

Take a look at the photos below – I mean, Scott Schuman, The Sartorialist is not even Italian, he’s from the US, but being best friends with Viviana Volpicella after many years in the Fashion industry, also he has learned to let his hands do the talking. Waving arms, and while photographing from a distance (cause I didn’t wanna go to close 😬), I think I heard typical Italian words like:

”Eh” ”Ahh” ”Que”!

Are they barking at each other???
Of course not! But it almost felt like they did for a moment.  So I’m happy that two seconds later they chat like best friends again 😅

That’s amore!

26 Top Models off Duty at Milan Fashion Week September 2016

 26 Top Models off Duty
Milan Fashion Week

Guest writer Malin Lagerqvist

Models shine as bright off as on the catwalk.

A couple of years ago, when Street Style was a new phenomenon at Fashion Week, it was all about having the most eye-catching look to grab photographers attention. Nowadays the cameras rather steer their focus towards a unique charisma that will create a much more interesting story, especially the models have become the subject of photographers attention.

Their personal style in combination with their makeup- and hair from the shows is a result of the fun and playful expression that has become the core essence of the ”model off duty” look. These girls always manage to put together the perfect combination of contrasts in their outfits – Romantic, feminine meets tomboy grunge, sporty influences and wacky patterns add youthfulness to classic pieces.

Then, that they are ridiculously photogenic is as obvious as the fact that the Italians cannot live without their espresso 😉

Ibiza Town, 2016

Ibiza Town – Eivissa – Dalt Vila

Written by Annika

Ibiza Town is a grand, cosmopolitan and ancient Mediterranean city located on the southeast coast of the island. There’s great shopping, nightlife, world-beating restaurants, a hugely varied selection of bars and cafes and beautiful historic buildings from the ancient old town, Dalt Vila with its Renaissance defensive wall, to the sublime boulevard of Vara de Rey. This cool city is also hotbed of culture and art with a mix of galleries and museums, plus there are all kinds of cultural events throughout the year. The name for Ibiza in Catalan is ”Eivissa”, which you will see on signposts all over the island.

Reference: Ibiza Spotlight

Written by Annika

In the ’60s Ibiza became really popular, and as a teenager in the ’70s, like me, we all wanted to go to Ibiza to experience the party and hippie culture that flourished. Much thanks to artists of all kinds; designers and celebrities drawn to the tiny Mediterranean island south of Majorca. Today there are two main hippie markets, and my pictures below are from Las Dalias, located in San Carlos, 15 minutes by car from Santa Eulalia. I think it’s a ”must do” to visit a hippy market while in Ibiza, and I like that ”back to basic” feeling which really calms you down.

By the way, I never went to Ibiza as a young girl! I guess my parents didn’t want me to go 😉

Ibiza Beach Life

Written by Annika

Life does not have to be perfect to be wonderful! But a beautiful beach at a beautiful sunny island, together with your family helps. I think everyone needs a little Ibiza in their Life!

You have to embrace your inner Ibiza voice while you’re here, so why not visit Jeffrey’s at the Beach who has a pop-up-store outside one of the hotels, right on the beach (I don’t remember the hotel name though?). Jeffrey is an Belgian designer who lives in Ibiza and make beautiful boho dresses, beach bags, hats and accessories.

Sunset Ashram Ibiza 2016

Bienvenido al Paraiso!

Written by Annika

Are you looking for a beautiful beach, or rather two beautiful small beaches with clear blue water, a cool restaurant with the bohemian Ibiza vibe, and then finish your day with the most fantastic sunset on Ibiza? Welcome to Sunset Ashram, cause this is the place to be!

Sunset Ashram has a boho chic crowd and we’re all invited 😀
But if you want to eat during the sunset you MUST make a reservation. It’s incredibly popular!

Fish Shack Ibiza 2016

Romantic Dinner – without high heels!

Written by Annika

Fish Shack is a little secret, hard to find restaurant, situated next to Sa Punta Patchwork, Talamanca Bay.
Here you can’t make any reservations, and they have no menu – As our waitress said: ”I am your menu!” The magic of this kind of pop-up place is the simplicity, you sit on plastic chairs planted on the rock, eating absolutely fresh fish drinking beer or wine with a stunning view over Dalt Vila. Very romantic in its simplicity, and then suddenly:

The beautiful sun sets, and you’re an Love……at least in Ibiza 😉

 ♥
